Opinion: Microsoft will sell Xbox Series X and S at a loss, and digital PS5 won’t pay for itself even for $ 500

Well-known insider and Venture Beat journalist Jeff Grubb tweeted some interesting tweets. He said that Microsoft is going to sell Xbox Series X and Series S at a loss. And a PlayStation 5 without a Blu-ray drive won’t pay off even if it sells for $ 499 like the Series X.

Jeff Grubb’s first post said: “If the PS5 goes digital for $ 399, it’ll be great. But I don’t know why Sony has been silent for so long then (I don’t think $ 499 is a good option – you [probably] want to see the first number 3) ”. The insider then said that Sony was not used to losing a lot of money on console sales, as the PlayStation is one of the company’s main sources of revenue. But even if it sells a digital version of the PS5 for $ 500, it will still not be enough to pay off.

The reporter summed up his words regarding the PlayStation 5 by the fact that the PlayStation 5 version without a Blu-Ray drive will in any case be unprofitable for Sony.

Then Jeff Grubb, in response to a user under the pseudonym BenjiSales, spoke about the situation with the implementation of two next-generation Xbox consoles: “[Microsoft] will suffer losses from both Series S and Series X. And it looks like in the case of the first loss, they will be large.” …

Recall: Xbox Series X and Series S will go on sale on November 10, 2020, at $ 299 and $ 499, respectively. The exact launch date of the PlayStation 5 is still unknown, as is the price.
