And closed the Zeku subsidiary
Oppo has changed its mind about creating its own single-chip system for smartphones. Oppo has reportedly shut down the related Zeku subsidiary.
Zeku was created just last year specifically to develop its own SoC. Oppo itself planned that the first such platform would appear as early as 2024.
Oppo has changed its mind about creating its own platform for smartphones
Oppo decided to close this direction due to the current situation in the smartphone market. More specifically, the company is referring to “uncertainties in the global economy and the smartphone market.” At the same time, Oppo called the closure of Zeku a difficult decision. It should be noted that we are talking about creating platforms that could replace Qualcomm and MediaTek solutions. MariSilicon solutions, apparently, Oppo will continue to develop further.
Interestingly, the company’s employees were notified of its closure just a day before this very closure.
