The Gazprom Corporation plans to become one of the owners of Aurus, as Vedomosti writes, citing its sources. Corporations will transfer part of Aurus’ shares in exchange for financing the further development of the company.
The main shareholder of Aurus Motors is now the state represented by FSUE NAMI: the institute owns 63.5% of the company. Another 36% in 2019 went to the Arab fund Tawazun, and 0.5% belonged to the Sollers group.
Part of Aurus will be sold to Gazprom: the company does not have enough money for development
The deal will be cash, as Aurus needs investment to develop its automotive project. Sources claim that Gazprom could be given up to 40% of the automaker from the share that is currently controlled by the US. The timing of the implementation of the deal has not been announced, but its approval in principle has already been received by the government.
Since 2019, 114 Aurus cars have been registered, of which 54 units will be registered in 2023. Serial production of Aurus at the Elabuga plant began in 2021 with the Senat sedan, later joined by the Komendant SUV.
