At present, Nauka is at the Baikonur cosmodrome, where preparations for factory control tests are continuing. Experts have already completed the work on opening the hatch of the active hybrid docking unit.

In addition, technological protection has been installed. A cleanliness chamber is attached to the module, which protects the product from dirt and provides a comfortable working environment inside.

It is noted that the standard floor and interior panels have been dismantled inside Nauka – technological elements will be mounted instead. In the course of work, the module is constantly inspected and parallel operations are performed to install micrometeorite protection.

Finally, work has already been completed on installing the camera unit, connecting the connectors to the active hybrid docking unit, as well as assembling devices for placing scientific equipment used for space experiments.

Let us remind you that the history of the Nauka block is more than 20 years old: its basis was a backup of the Zarya module – FGB-2. After entering the ISS, the unit will generate oxygen for six people, as well as regenerate water from urine. The module will provide more than 30 universal workplaces – outdoor and indoor.
