V6 will replace V8
The Mercedes-Benz G-class, also known as the Gelendvagen, will soon say goodbye to the V8 engine. In fact, the Mercedes-Benz G500 Final Edition announced today is the last member of the family with an eight-cylinder engine.
The release of the Mercedes-Benz G500 Final Edition is timed to coincide with the appearance of a V8 engine under the hood of the Gelendvagen, which happened in 1993 (then the SUV was simply called the 500 GE V8).
Presented Mercedes-Benz G500 Final Edition, only 1500 of these will be released
The exterior highlights of the current Mercedes-Benz G500 Final Edition include one of three exclusive colors, an extended ‘chrome package’ and an elegant touch: built-in lights in the rear-view mirrors that project Stronger than Time on the road. Inside, the Mercedes-Benz G500 Final Edition has top Burmester acoustics, comfortable seats with Nappa leather, and nameplates indicating belonging to the final series.
A total of 1,500 cars will be produced (500 units of each color). As for the motor itself, it has not undergone any changes: a 4-liter V8 produces 421 hp.
And what will happen instead of V8? The new top-end powertrain for the G-class will be the V6 engine. Probably with turbines and hardly inferior in power. Well, somewhere on the way is the electric G-class.
