During his career, Sato managed to participate in the development of games on several intellectual properties, in addition to Yakuza and its derivatives: Virtua Fighter, F-Zero, Super Monkey Ball, and others.

As it turned out from a recent interview, Sato would also like to add to the above list Sonic the Hedgehog – a Sega series about the iconic speed hedgehog named Sonic.

This is intellectual property, which I had no relation to before. In the sense that I want to try myself in it … this is Sonic. When you hear about Sega, you think about Sonic. I would like to participate at least once, ”Sato admitted.

However, the matter would not have been limited to Sato’s participation in the development of the new Sonic the Hedgehog: the producer assured that, if he happened to take up the franchise, he would have made a “completely different Sonic”.

In early fall, it became known that Sega plans to mark the upcoming 30th anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog series with “new games” and “major announcements” Maybe there will be a place for Sato in the upcoming projects.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is considered Sato’s last work at the moment. Outside Japan, the game was released on November 10 for PC (Steam, Windows 10), PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and S. The PS5 version is expected on March 2, 2021.
