Bethesda and id Software announced at QuakeCon 2023 and immediately released a re-release of the classic shooter Quake II with improved graphics.

The original Quake II was released on December 9, 1997. In it, a soldier named Bitterman had to go to the home planet of the enemy cybernetic civilization of the Strogg, who had previously attacked Earth.

The edition includes the additions Call of the Machine, Quake II 64, as well as a set of missions The Reckoning and Ground Zero. There is the possibility of co-op up to four people (network and local), full-screen anti-aliasing, depth of field, support for widescreen displays and 4K resolution, as well as improved lighting.

The re-release is out on PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch for $10.
