Qualcomm unveils 5nm Snapdragon 780G processor for mid-range 5G smartphones
Qualcomm today officially announced the Snapdragon 780G processor: the solution is intended to use productive smartphones with support for fifth-generation (5G) mobile communications.
The chip is manufactured using 5-nanometer technology. The configuration includes two ARM Cortex-A78 cores clocked up to 2.4 GHz and six ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked up to 1.8 GHz. The graphics node includes the Adreno 642 accelerator.
The product has received an image processor Spectra 570. It provides the ability to obtain images simultaneously from three cameras. Besides, 4K HDR and HDR10 + footage can be recorded.
The new platform is equipped with the sixth generation of artificial intelligence engine Qualcomm AI Engine. The processor is great for mobile gaming.
Another component of the novelty is the integrated Snapdragon X53 5G modem. It allows you to transfer data over a cellular network at speeds up to 3.3 Gbps when using a band below 6 GHz.
Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E wireless adapters are available. Recall that Wi-Fi 6E technology provides for the allocation of the 6 GHz band for unlicensed use in addition to the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. The data transfer speed in the Wi-Fi 6 network can be up to 3.6 Gbps.
Commercial devices based on Snapdragon 780G will appear in the next quarter.
