Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Will Be PlayStation 5 Exclusive And Not Coming To PS4

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was announced at the first June launch of PlayStation 5 games as a console exclusive. However, Sony then announced that some future games from its in-house studios would also appear on PS4, including Horizon Forbidden West. But regarding the new adventures of Ratchet and Clank, clarifications have not been received until today – now it has become clear that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be released exclusively on the PlayStation 5.

It all started with a post from Twitter user Spidey889. He asked the developers the following question: “Hi guys. I’m not sure if you can announce this now, but I’m very curious. Will Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart be out on PS4 or only on PlayStation 5? ” This was followed by a brief response from the Games is Insomniac: «This exclusive PS5».

Perhaps the decision to release the project only on the PlayStation 5 is partly due to its gameplay mechanics. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart actively uses portals to move across locations and even between entire dimensions. The process is happening pretty quickly, judging by the published videos. This, according to the authors, is achieved thanks to the PlayStation 5’s high-speed SSD, and on PS4, implementing the mechanics could cause problems.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be released as part of the PS5 “release window”, the exact date has not yet been disclosed.
