Perhaps the decision to release the project only on the PlayStation 5 is partly due to its gameplay mechanics. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart actively uses portals to move across locations and even between entire dimensions. The process is happening pretty quickly, judging by the published videos. This, according to the authors, is achieved thanks to the PlayStation 5’s high-speed SSD, and on PS4, implementing the mechanics could cause problems.
