Razer unveils $ 200 Kiyo Pro webcam that shoots well in low light

Razer has unveiled the Kiyo Pro webcam, which should be the ultimate solution for gamers, streamers, and freelancers. It features a Sony STARVIS backlit CMOS sensor. In terms of cost, the Kiyo Pro is far from a budget solution, but the webcam will be appreciated by those who care about image quality during video broadcasts.

The webcam can shoot in the maximum resolution – FullHD (1080p) at 60 frames per second. There is a choice of viewing angle: 103 °, 90 ° or 80 °. As noted in the press release, the best dynamic range will be provided in FullHD mode at 30 frames per second.

The Kiyo Pro is equipped with a Sony IMX327 CMOS sensor with a resolution of 2.1 megapixels, autofocus, and an aperture of f / 2.8. Concerning the aperture, this is an excellent indicator at which image capture without parasitic noise is ensured, even in low light conditions. As noted above, the sensor is backlit by STARVIS, which emits light in the infrared range. It turns on automatically if suddenly the room is not bright enough – a light sensor is used for this. Using special algorithms, Kiyo Pro combines the visible range of light with infrared, which gives several times better image quality than conventional webcams. The body has a separate cover that can be used to cover the lens.

The engineers also provided several mounting options – on a computer and a tripod. The webcam has a built-in omnidirectional stereo microphone that captures audio at 48 kHz (16 bit). The Razer Kiyo Pro uses a USB 3.0 interface at speeds up to 5 Gbps to connect to a computer. The webcam requires at least Windows 8 to work; macOS support is not officially announced.
