Re-issues of the first two DOOM games on Unity appeared on Steam

Bethesda has released updates for the first two DOOM titles on Steam. Now users of the service will be able to run modernized versions on the Unity engine, which were previously only available through the Bethesda launcher and on mobile platforms.

Despite the update, players will be able to switch to the original DOS versions if they wish, but upon purchase, the shooter will run on Unity by default. In addition, the developers added support for the 16: 9 format, the ability to aim using gyroscopes in gamepads, and other functions. A complete list of changes can be found on the company’s website.

Users continue to develop various mods for old shooters. In May, an enthusiast under the pseudonym zheng released a modification that turns Doom II into a slasher: Doom Slayer slays enemies with a sword from DOOM Eternal.
