Redmi will release its first gaming smartphone this year
Redmi is primarily known for its low-cost smartphones. However, after the company began to position itself as a separate brand, and not just another family of Xiaomi smartphones, the manufacturer also started releasing real flagship devices based on advanced mobile platforms. As it became known, in the near future, Redmi is going to master another segment – gaming smartphones.
General Manager Redmi Veybing Lu (Lu Weibing) through a page on the social network Weibo has confirmed that “the company plans to release its first smartphone gaming at a great price this year”. He added that the company is going to introduce the first smartphone based on the new flagship chipset MediaTek Dimensity 1200, which was recently announced. According to Mr. Lu Weibing, it is not entirely clear whether we are talking about a gaming microphone or a completely different device – for example, the upcoming flagship smartphone of the Redmi K40 series, information about which has recently begun to appear more and more often.
It should be noted that the aforementioned Dimensity 1200 mobile processor uses the same graphics core as last year’s Dimensity 1000+. However, the GPU has received software support for ray tracing and can handle screens with a refresh rate of 168 Hz.
