Rogozin wants to send the Soyuz MS spacecraft to the ISS using the fastest single-turn scheme

It became known that Dmitry Rogozin, the general director of the state corporation Roscosmos, wants to send a human-crewed spacecraft Soyuz MS to the International Space Station using a single-turn scheme. He wrote about this on his Twitter page.

“ It depends on the mass of circumstances and nuances of the mission. But I want to try to launch Soyuz MS using a single-turn scheme, ”wrote Mr Rogozin in response to a question from one of the Twitter users about which scheme for launching Soyuz spacecraft is planned to be used in the future. It is worth noting that the head of Roscosmos did not specify what kind of spacecraft launching scheme will be used, so it can be assumed that the Soyuz will be delivered to the ISS according to a three-hour (two-turn) scheme and a six-hour (four-turn) scheme.

In 2019, it became known that specialists of the Energia Rocket and Space Corporation had developed a single-turn scheme for launching spacecraft to the ISS. It was reported that the first launch under this scheme could be implemented in 2-3 years.

Let us recall that last year the manned spacecraft Soyuz MS-17 set a new record for flight speed to the ISS, delivering the crew to the orbital station using a two-turn scheme in just three hours and three minutes. As part of this flight, the spacecraft carried a crew, which included Russian cosmonauts Sergei Ryzhikov and Sergei Kud-Sverchkov and American astronaut Kathleen Rubins.
