Rumors: Knights of the Old Republic remake will not retain the original game’s classic combat system

Blogger MrMattyPlays, in a recent video on his YouTube channel, shared scraps of previously undisclosed information about a yet unconfirmed remake of the role-playing game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

We will remind, last week, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier (Jason Schreier) revealed that the modernization of the “Knights of the Old Republic” is being done by Aspyr Media.

As it turned out, MrMattyPlays, citing its own sources, reported Aspyr Media’s participation in the project two and a half months ago. Still, the major Western media did not pay attention to that publication.

According to the information obtained by MrMattyPlays, the updated version of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic will be an action RPG rather than a purebred RPG, as was the case with the original game.

“All I know that I haven’t talked about before is [the remake] going to be an action RPG or something. [Aspyr Media] is moving away from real-time turn-based combat towards more dynamic combat, ”said MrMattyPlays.

In the original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, battles took place in real-time (with a tactical pause) but were actually divided into turns. The game used the D20 mechanic from Dungeons & Dragons.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic debuted on Xbox in July 2003 (US release) and made it to PC in November. Thanks to Aspyr Media, more than 10 years after its premiere, the game has also been released on iOS and Android.
