Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin Launch Trailer – Rice Growing, Fights & Japanese Mythology

Edelweiss, XSEED Games, and the Marvelous USA have announced the launch of Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin in North America on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch consoles, and worldwide on PC ( Steam ). At the same time, a trailer for this rather curious game was presented by the creators of the arcade mech shooter Astebreed.

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin combines a side-scrolling platformer with active crafting and a rice-growing simulator. Players take on the role of Sakuna, a spoiled harvest goddess banished to a dangerous island with a group of outcasts.

As the heroine explores the beautiful and inaccessible surroundings, she will find a new home in a mountain village, proving, through collecting rice and improving people’s lives, that she deserves her own title. In Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, the developers promise not only a fresh look at Japanese mythology, but also call their brainchild a love letter to action platformers, an ode to rice, and an exciting rural life simulator.

On Steam, the game costs 725 ₽ – judging by the page on this site, the Russian language is not supported. At the time of writing, there are already 52 responses on Steam, with 82% of them positive. On Metacritic, the average game score, depending on the platform, ranges from 78% to 81%. It’s too early to draw conclusions, but all this speaks in favor of Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin.
