In the segment of Chromebooks at the end of the fourth quarter of 2020, rapid growth was recorded – by 287%: shipments of laptops based on Chrome OS amounted to 11.2 million units. Over the year, sales rose 109% to 30.7 million units. The top five vendors include HP, Lenovo, Dell, Acer, and Samsung.

The demand for computer hardware is growing due to the pandemic. Self-isolation of users, the transition to telecommuting, and distance learning has provoked the need for additional PCs around the world.

As for the tablet sector, shipments of these devices in the last quarter of last year jumped 54% to 52.8 million units. The annual result was 160.6 million units, which is 28% more compared to 2019. The undisputed leader here is Apple, which controls over a third of the market.
