Sales of the adventure Paradise Lost have exceeded publisher’s expectations. The game will be released on the Nintendo Switch
Polish publishing house All in! Games reported that sales of PolyAmorous’s post-apocalyptic adventure Paradise Lost were higher than predicted. The company also confirmed that it would release the Epic Games Store game and on the Nintendo Switch.
All in! Games Piotr Żygadło said that Paradise Lost was purchased more than 12 thousand times on Steam in the first four days. Sales on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and GOG have not been disclosed. The head of the company also said that the trailers for the game received about a million views.
The adventure’s release date on the Epic Games Store and Nintendo Switch has not been announced, but it is noted that the game will be available on those platforms “soon. ” The publisher is “looking forward to” big sales for the hybrid console version.
Paradise Lost was released on March 24th. The game takes place in an alternative 1980 on Poland’s territory, which survived a nuclear war. Users control a twelve-year-old boy Shimon (Szymon), who, in the hope of finding a mysterious person from a photograph of his dead mother, went to investigate an abandoned bunker. He will have to unravel the underworld’s secrets, where the advanced technologies of the Nazis intertwined with Slavic myths.
The game received mixed reviews from the press ( Metacritic – 61–71 / 100). Most of the journalists noted that the authors failed to unleash their potential: the story turned out to be faded, the gameplay was not inventive, the environment was insufficiently developed, the voiceover was inexpressive. However, some described the plot as engaging and memorable.
User rating on Steam was higher, with 79% of the total positive reviews ( 355 reviews left ). The game is often praised for the visual component, atmosphere, and plot and criticized for the meager speed of the character’s movement, monotonous gameplay, and poor environment.
Last week All in! Games talked about their future releases. The publisher’s most successful game, the cyberpunk parkour action game Ghostrunner, will receive three free add-ons and one paid add-on in the second half of 2021. Cyber Slash from the same developers, studio One More Level, will be delayed until 2023. The tactical action game about World War II Mongrels from the authors of the historical strategy Ancestors Legacy will appear in the third quarter of the year. At the same time, the Arboria Troll Rogue will be released from Steam Early Access.
