It’s all in the upgraded hybrid system
According to the Chinese resource Autohome, sales of the updated Toyota Corolla sedan will begin in China in mid-May. The new model will not differ from the previous one either externally or in terms of interior design, and all the innovations will be concentrated under the hood: the car will receive a fifth-generation THS II hybrid power plant.
It will be based on a 1.8-liter gasoline engine operating on the Atkinson economical cycle. Torque to the wheels will be transmitted through the eCVT transmission. The power of the power plant will be 137 hp, the average consumption is 4.07 per 100 km. But such a power plant will only be in the top version, while simpler sedan options will receive a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine and a 1.2-liter turbo engine.
