Samsung 870 EVO SSD introduced – faster and cheaper than its predecessors

The upcoming launch of the new series was announced earlier this month. The updated EVO SATA SSDs hit the market three years after the Samsung 860 EVO and 860 PRO models. The new SSDs differ from their predecessors in higher write and read speeds at more affordable prices.

The Samsung 870 EVO delivers sequential read and writes speeds of 560 MB / s and 530 MB / s, respectively. IOPS (input/output operations per second) reaches 98k for random read and 88k for random write. If you are interested in the details, then our laboratory has already conducted express testing of the new Samsung drive, which can be found here.

We also know that the Samsung 870 EVO uses the same Samsung MKX controller as the 870 QVO drives.

The 870 Evo series includes 250GB models for $ 49.99, 500GB for $ 79.99, 1TB for $ 139.99, 2TB for $ 269.99, and 4TB for $ 529.99.

For comparison, in 2018 the 250GB Samsung 860 EVO model was priced at $ 94.99 and the 4TB model was $ 1,399.99.
