Only Huawei has approved BOE screens for the upcoming Huawei Mate 40 lineup
Sources say Samsung is looking for OLED screen suppliers for the upcoming Galaxy S21 smartphone. As it became known, the South Korean manufacturer was conducting appropriate negotiations with the largest Chinese manufacturer BOE, but the negotiations stopped.
Samsung and Apple’s new flagships may have received Chinese BOE screens, but they didn’t pass QC
The Chinese brand sent Samsung samples of OLED panels for the Galaxy S21, but they did not go through quality control, so Samsung dropped the idea of using such screens in its next flagship smartphones. However, BOE will continue to make every effort to become one of Samsung’s suppliers in the future.
BOE is one of the world’s largest LCD panel manufacturers and is actively expanding its presence in the OLED market. The company also sent samples of OLED screens to Apple for the iPhone 12 line, but these were also rejected by the Cupertino-based company.
For now, Samsung Electronics is expected to continue to use Samsung Display OLED panels for the upcoming Galaxy S21 lineup. When it comes to curved OLED panels, Samsung Display has about 90% of the market.
There is also evidence that Huawei has approved BOE screens for the upcoming Huawei Mate 40 line.
