Samsung came up with a smartphone with a disappearing front camera

Samsung is considering another version of the selfie camera in smartphones: this time we are talking about a special disappearing module that will be visible only when making video calls or taking self-portraits.

A description of the novelty appeared on the website of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). LetsGoDigital has published images that give an idea of the device.

As planned by Samsung, a small transparent section will be located at the top of the smartphone screen. It is proposed to place a miniature display behind it, which in its usual state will be able to display this or that information.

When the front camera is activated, a special mechanism inside the body of the device will be able to move the section with the auxiliary mini-display downward, thereby opening the selfie module. After the shooting is complete, the screen will return to its original position, covering the camera lens.

The selfie-block itself can have a different design: for example, it can include two sensors and a flash. It is also possible to use a traditional single module.

Alas, while a smartphone with the described design exists only on paper. Whether Samsung is planning to bring the idea to life is not clear.
