Samsung Galaxy S21 smartphones will do without a sub-screen selfie camera

In the first quarter of next year, Samsung will release the flagship smartphones of the Galaxy S21 family, which will replace the current Galaxy S20 devices (pictured). Internet sources have released new information about future devices.

Earlier there were rumors that the Galaxy S21 smartphones could become the first devices of the South Korean giant equipped with a sub-screen camera. Such a design would eliminate the need for a hole or cutout in the display, implementing a truly bezel-less design with full front panel coverage.

Alas, Samsung has now reportedly decided not to use the selfie camera hidden behind the display. Observers say there are several reasons for this – the immaturity of the technology, as well as Samsung’s reluctance to make smartphones more expensive through the use of innovative components.

Thus, the front camera of the Galaxy S21 devices will be located either in a small hole or in the notch in the display.

As of today, it is known that the new family of flagship devices will include the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 +, and Galaxy S21 Ultra models. The fifth-generation (5G) versions of these smartphones received the codes SM-G991, SM-G996, and SM-G998, respectively. There is a possibility that the devices will include various proprietary Samsung Exynos processors.
