Samsung introduced a rugged smartphone Galaxy XCover 5 with a small 5.3-inch screen and only two cameras

Four years have passed since Samsung introduced the Galaxy XCover 4 rugged smartphone. The Galaxy XCover Pro saw the light of day last year, but it is a higher-end model. Today, the company released the Galaxy XCover 5, the true successor to the 2017 rugged device.

The new “SUV” is based on the Exynos 850 platform, which contains eight Cortex-A55 cores operating at frequencies up to 2 GHz. The XCover 5 has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The battery capacity is 3000 mAh. Supports 15-watt fast charging. The display is a small, by today’s standards, 5.3-inch TFT panel with HD + resolution.

Since the smartphone is designed for use in harsh environments, it boasts Glove Touch support, allowing you to interact with the touchpad without removing your glove. A single 16-megapixel module represents the main camera with an f / 1.8 aperture. The front camera has a resolution of 5 megapixels.

As you’d expect, the Galaxy XCover 5 is IP68 dust and water-resistant and meets the military MIL-STD-810H standard. The device is equipped with a Pogo connector for charging and the standard USB Type-C, and it also has one programmable key on the side and supports NFC. The smartphone runs Android 11. The Galaxy XCover 5 will hit the market this month, but the price has not yet been disclosed.
