Samsung named smartphones that will now receive Android updates for three years: not only flagships on the list

During the Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung announced that some of its devices will receive updates to the Android operating system for three years instead of two years. Now the manufacturer has released a list of models that will extend their “life” with up-to-date software. It was not only the flagships that hit it.

The list of smartphones and tablets already released looks like this:

  • Galaxy S series – S20 Ultra 5G, S20 Ultra, S20 + 5G, S20 +, S20 5G, S20, S10 5G, S10 +, S10, S10e, S10 Lite;
  • Galaxy Note series – Note20 Ultra 5G, Note20 Ultra, Note20 5G, Note20, Note10 + 5G, Note10 +, Note10 5G, Note10, Note10 Lite;
  • foldable Galaxy series – Z Fold2 5G, Z Fold2, Z Flip 5G, Z Flip, Fold 5G, Fold;
  • Galaxy A series – A90 5G, A71 5G, A71, A51 5G, A51;
  • Galaxy Tab S tablets – Tab S7 + 5G, Tab S7 +, Tab S7 5G3, Tab S7, Tab S6 5G4, Tab S6, Tab S6 Lite.

In addition to the listed models, a three-year Android update period will apply to future novelties of the mentioned series.

As for the current gadgets, three years of support means that they will have time to get Android 13 after the final release of this version of the operating system. But not all. For example, firmware updates on Galaxy S10 devices, which were announced in the spring of 2019 with Android 9, should logically stop at Android 12. Owners of the Galaxy S20 family will be more fortunate, which, moreover, will be the first in the Samsung lineup to update to Android 11 this year. But M-series smartphones and entry-level A-series devices will remain with two years of support.
