Samsung surpasses Apple for the first time in three years to lead the US smartphone market

Samsung has finally beaten Apple for the first time in three years, according to Strategy Analytics. There were several reasons, but one of the most important was the delay in the release of the new iPhone 12 smartphones. The smartphones went on sale with a long delay, with the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max coming out only this week.

Samsung took 33.7% of the US market last quarter, followed by Apple with 30.2%. In third place in the United States was another South Korean company LG with a market share of 14.7%.

Samsung posted growth of 6.7%. The success has been ensured by various models with competitive prices and decent performance. The Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20+ also sold well (albeit without records). The foldable Galaxy Z Fold2 also performed well.

Samsung last led the US smartphone market in Q2 2017. The company may announce the Galaxy S21 series earlier than usual, as early as January.
