Samsung unveils most flagship flagship – Galaxy Note20 Ultra with super-bright 120Hz display and 108MP camera

As expected, Samsung today unveiled a pair of new flagship smartphones at the Galaxy Unpacked event: the Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra. The company has tried to improve all the characteristics of these devices compared to last year’s models, and in some aspects even compared to the Galaxy S20. This year’s Galaxy Note20 Ultra takes a more significant departure from the base model and offers Samsung’s cutting edge technology.

Let’s start with the screen. The Galaxy Note20 Ultra has a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 25% higher brightness, and WQHD + resolution, which has an aspect ratio of 19.3: 9. The screen features minimal bezels, is curved at the edges, and includes a round notch for a single 10MP front camera (same as the Galaxy S20).

The design has not changed too much compared to last year’s Note10 models, but there are new color options with a matte textured surface and a haze effect (the Ultra model has haze only in the bronze version). In addition, the highly durable Gorilla Glass 7 is used to protect the case. To keep the design of Samsung flagship smartphones more consistent, the S Pen, which is made in the body color, has been moved to the left side, and the volume and power buttons to the right.

Of course, the smartphone received a new processor – a slightly updated 7-nm Exynos 990 chip compared to the Galaxy S20, complemented by a 5G Exynos Modem 5123 modem in the older version of 12/512 GB 5G. Compared to the Galaxy Note10, the new chip is 19% faster in CPU tasks, 9% faster in graphics rendering, and 4.3 faster in the increasingly popular tensor machine learning tasks. Unfortunately, the Note20 series powered by Snapdragon 865 Plus will only be sold in the US and PRC.

The S Pen has also been enhanced with deep machine learning. Also, thanks to a 120Hz refresh rate, the response time is reduced to an impressive 9ms on the Note20 Ultra, versus 42ms on the Note10. Supports 5 customizable S Pen Anywhere gestures: Back, Home, Recent App, Smart Select, and Screen Recorder. Now you can take handwritten notes directly in PDF files, on images, and in texts.

Taking notes is now easier with full sync across all mobile devices in the ecosystem (including tablets and PCs). Added the ability to create notes with audio bookmarks. Integration with Microsoft 365 applications has been improved. For example, the export of handwritten notes to PowerPoint slides or Word documents has become available, and the automatic synchronization of Samsung Notes notes with the OneNote ribbon in Outlook has been added. Enhanced the “Connect to Windows” feature – switch between Galaxy Note20 and Windows PC using the “Your Phone” application. It allows you to access mobile applications installed on your phone directly from your Windows 10 PC. Later, the ability to run several mobile applications on your computer was promised.

The Galaxy Note20 Ultra can record 8K video at a cinematic 21: 9 (7680 x 4320) aspect ratio at 24 frames per second. It also supports video shooting at 120 frames / s and even 960 frames / s, slow digital zoom when recording video. 12-megapixel, 108-megapixel, and 12-megapixel sensors are complemented by fast laser autofocus.
