Samsung’s new pricing policy: Galaxy S21 will be cheaper than Galaxy S20, while Galaxy S21 Ultra will be more expensive than Galaxy S20 Ultra

Cheap flagships are getting cheaper, and expensive ones are getting more expensive

New details about Samsung Galaxy S21 smartphones have appeared on the web. This time they relate to prices and look very interesting: if you believe the sources (and their predictions in the past came true), two models of the Galaxy S21 series will fall in price relative to the Galaxy S20, one will rise in price.

Samsung’s new pricing policy: Galaxy S21 will be cheaper than Galaxy S20, while Galaxy S21 Ultra will be more expensive than Galaxy S20 Ultra

The most affordable representatives of the line – Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 + will fall in price. The first is a version with 128GB of flash memory that will be offered for 1077 dollars, which was asked for the base Galaxy S20. This price reduction is significant and should be welcomed. The Galaxy S21 + will not fall in price so much: if the price of the Galaxy S20 + at the start of sales was 1300 dollars, then 1300 dollars will be asked for its successor. However, given the changes in the hardware platform and the improved camera, even such a price cut seems like a good bonus.

But if you are already looking at the Galaxy S21 Ultra, then you need to prepare for a rise in price. So, if the cost of the Galaxy S20 Ultra in the version with 128 GB of flash memory at the start of sales was 1650 dollars, then for the Galaxy S21 Ultra you will have to pay 1700 dollars. Why Samsung was unable to “reduce the price” of this model (or at least keep its price at the level of its predecessor) is not clear.

It should be noted that this is not the first rumor that the Galaxy S21 will be more affordable than its predecessors. And such a move by the Korean company definitely makes sense. Firstly, this will increase audience loyalty, and secondly, a lower price will allow the company to strengthen its position in the segment of top-end smartphones and take some market share from Huawei, whose position at the moment leaves much to be desired.
