As we reported earlier this spring, NEC and Sharp have agreed to form a joint venture . It was supposed to include a division of NEC Display Solutions (NDS) and Sharp. Under the terms of the agreement, NEC was to transfer 66% of NDS shares to Sharp, keeping 34% for itself.
Sharp NEC Display Solutions Joint Venture Earned
A press release was posted on the joint venture’s website today stating that the transaction described was completed. As a result, the joint venture changed its name to Sharp NEC Display Solutions (SNDS) and began operations on November 1, 2020 as a subsidiary of Sharp.
The venture will continue to focus on working with other manufacturers to develop and manufacture a wide range of display solutions for a variety of markets and applications.
Fujikazu Nakayama, Senior CEO and President of Sharp Business Solutions, will serve as chairman of the new venture, while Hisatsugu Nakatani, President of NEC Display Solutions, will serve as SNDS President. The headquarters of the joint venture is located in Tokyo.
