The company’s revenue for the year grew by 40%
Silicon Motion recently published a report for the first quarter of this year. The revenue of the manufacturer of flash memory controllers for the reporting period amounted to 132.8 million dollars. Compared to the previous quarter, this indicator decreased by 13%, and in annual terms – it increased by 40%. The quarter resulted in a net profit of $ 25.9 million. A year ago, this figure was $ 25.4 million.
Silicon Motion succeeded in a year to increase sales of controllers for SSDs by 40%, eMMC and UFS controllers – by 100%
Perhaps more interesting than the general financial indicators are the sales information for the controllers given in the report.
So, sales of controllers for solid-state drives (SSDs) used in PCs and servers grew by 40% over the year. Sales of ready-made solutions for SSDs grew by 70%. Sales of eMMC and UFS controllers used in smartphones and other mobile devices grew 100% over the year.
By the end of the year, the manufacturer promises to release four models of controllers with support for PCIe Gen 4, relating to different segments.
