SSD on PS5 is more than twice as fast
The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X game consoles, although they have different, but quite similar characteristics. Usually, developers have no problems due to the fact that the consoles are still different. However, TeamKill’s developers of Quantum Error still seem to be running into trouble due to the worse settings of the Xbox Series.
The game was originally announced as a PS5 exclusive, but in the end, the authors first transferred it to Unreal Engine 5, and then announced a version for the Xbox Series X / S. However, during the development process, we encountered a problem. The game was originally made for the PS5, which has a very fast SSD. Sony’s hard drive is more than twice as fast as the Xbox’s (5.5 GB/s vs. 2.4 GB/s) and this has become a problem.
Slow Xbox Series SSD causes new game release delay relative to PlayStation 5
Because of it, the developers said that the Xbox version would have to wait, as they needed time to optimize.
We will have a couple of gameplay videos to show as soon as we can announce everything. We’ve started optimizing the game for Xbox, but unfortunately it will definitely take some time; QE was built to play with the extremely fast PS5 SSD, the Xbox SSD is a little slower so we’ll have to tweak a few things to make up for that speed difference.
Recall that there is also an example of the game Baldur’s Gate 3, where, due to the limitations of the Xbox Series S, developers cannot yet implement the split-screen function, as on PS5 and Series X.
