Smartphone Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra with a sub-screen camera appeared on video

A video appeared on the Internet (see below) showing a prototype of a Xiaomi smartphone with a front camera located directly behind the display. The latter thanks to this solution, is free from a cutout and a hole.

Xiaomi has been working on sub-screen selfie camera technology for quite some time. Such an image sensor remains invisible due to the special arrangement of pixels, due to which it is possible to achieve the same density in all parts of the screen. In other words, the user will not see the front camera module.

The prototype shown is said to be based on the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra model, which debuted last month. This unit is equipped with a 6.67-inch FHD + display with a resolution of 2340 × 1080 pixels, a Snapdragon 865 processor, a maximum of 16GB of RAM, and a solid-state drive with a capacity of up to 512GB. A quad camera is installed at the back in a configuration of 48 + 48 + 20 + 12 million pixels.

It is not yet clear what resolution the sub-screen selfie camera provides for the prototype smartphone. The regular version of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra has a 20MP sensor in front.

It is alleged that Xiaomi may show its first smartphone with a front camera hidden behind the display, already in October-November. But such a device will appear on the market no earlier than 2021.
