One of the clear advantages of any new iPhone over any new Android smartphone is the much longer software support from the manufacturer. However, at least for the new Pixels, this advantage of Apple devices will actually be leveled. Google will reportedly offer a minimum of five years of updates for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.

And not like now, when there are three years of Android updates and two additional years of security updates, but a full five years of OS updates. That is, Pixel 8 and 8 Pro will come with Android 14, and eventually get Android 19.
More specifically, the 9to5google resource says that with new smartphones, Google will surpass Samsung on a stipulated issue. The latter is now offering four years of OS updates for some of its models, meaning Google should provide a minimum of five, but may offer more at once, although this is unlikely.
