It is reported that in the fourth quarter of last year, the industry showed a slight decline compared to the same period in 2019. In 2020, overall, sales increased by only 1.5%. Analysts note that the pandemic harmed the development of the industry.

Apple is the undisputed leader in the global market, with a 40% share last quarter. Samsung occupies another 10% of the industry, and Huawei closes the top three with approximately 8%.

In 2020, in general, Apple increased smartwatches’ sales by 19% – to 33.9 million units. Huawei showed a 26% increase to 11.1 million. Demand for Samsung chronometers fell 1% to 9.1 million units.

It is noted that the most popular smartwatches are in the price categories from 101 to 200 US dollars and from 401 to 500 dollars: such devices accounted for 22% of the total sales.
