Apple released iOS 16 in September

According to MacRumours, four months after the launch of iOS 16, some users continue to report a slew of bugs, including slow keyboard popups, random reboots, camera freezes, and more.

Apple released iOS 16 in September, followed by several subsequent updates to address bugs and security fixes. The most recent update for the operating system, iOS 16.2, was released on December 13th. iOS 16.2 brings a new Freeform app, new always-on screen options for iPhone 14 Pro, new lock screen widgets, 5G support for India, and more.

On Twitter, Reddit, the MacRumors forum, and Apple Support, users report a huge number of bugs and obvious lags in the shell. The problems are various: Spotlight search not working, keyboard not showing up in apps, fast battery drain, camera app freezes, problems with focus modes, Apple Music app bugs, HomeKit accessories not working, there are also problems with CarPlay.

On Reddit, users have reported that apps may freeze after opening or quit on their own while in use.

Users are also reporting persistent issues with the Home app after the iOS 16.2 update. One of the new features of the update was the redesign of the architecture of the Home application. Apple announced the new architecture in June, promising faster and more reliable HomeKit performance. However, after the release of the new app, users reported issues with non-working accessories, forcing Apple to withdraw the update.

The issues are also reported to be not limited to any particular iPhone model, as iOS 16 is supported on models starting with the iPhone 8.
