Sony smartphones now receive updates to Android 11

Sony’s mobile division has been going through hard times in recent years. Xperia smartphones are not very popular, it is difficult to praise them for their price/quality ratio. However, there is one thing the company deserves to be commended for. We are talking about fast delivery of fresh software versions to branded smartphones.

A couple of weeks ago, Sony promised to update the Xperia 1 II smartphone to the current Android 11. Today, the first owners of the device started receiving the promised update. In addition, the company does not litter the firmware with useless proprietary add-ons, thanks to which the newest version of the software “weighs” less than 1 GB. For comparison, Samsung One UI 3.0 based on Android 11 is over 2GB.

Recall that the Xperia 1 II is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip, working in conjunction with 8 or 12 GB of RAM. The device boasts a 6.5-inch display with a 21: 9 aspect ratio and a 1644 x 3840 resolution.  Xperia 1 II users from Taiwan have already received Android 11. In other regions, the new firmware is expected to be available before the end of this month.
