The Federal Aviation Administration said SpaceX has not yet received approval to conduct another test flight of its Starship rocket. Previously, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said that “Starship is ready for launch and is awaiting approval and licensing from the Federal Aviation Administration.

On its first launch, the rocket rose high and flew for more than three minutes, but lost several engines, caused serious damage to the launch pad, and entered a dive, after which it was remotely destroyed.

In a statement sent to CNBC Wednesday evening, the Federal Aviation Administration said: “The investigation into the incident involving the SpaceX craft continues. The FAA will not authorize a new launch of Starship until SpaceX has completed the corrective actions identified during the accident investigation and demonstrated compliance with all regulatory requirements.”

SpaceX did not respond to a request for comment.
