Speedrunner ran the Demon’s Souls remake in 12 minutes, but only thanks to a new bug

Players continue to find bugs in the Demon’s Souls remake by Bluepoint Games and SIE Japan Studio. A recently opened loophole, for example, can significantly reduce travel time.

The new trick was demonstrated by the American streamer and speedrunner Distortion2 in his broadcast yesterday, who, thanks to the feature of the Demon’s Souls download system, managed to run the game in just 12 minutes.

To achieve such an impressive result (the record in the original Demon’s Souls is just under 45 minutes ), the streamer needed two bugs and the help of a friend – an unofficial speedrun took place online.

Having defeated the first boss on his own, Distortion2 (this fragment is not on the video) summons a friendly phantom, which gives the streamer 1 billion souls for pumping, a powerful bow, and items to quickly increase the damage done (the first bug).

Further, Distortion2 uses the second bug – if you exit the game immediately after teleporting to a new world and then die in this location, the system will transfer the hero to one of the following checkpoints (which one depends on where the movement was made from).

Having thus shortened his way to the final boss, Distortion2 was able to complete the passage of the Demon’s Souls remake in 12 minutes and 7 seconds – the time was fixed by an in-game stopwatch in the central location.

Of course, we are not talking about any official status in the case of this race – Distortion2, together with other members of the speedrunner community, are just testing the waters before setting the rules for speeding the game in different categories.

Such significant omissions on the part of the developers of the updated Demon’s Souls, which can literally “break” the game, will probably be eliminated in the near future.

The remake of Demon’s Souls was released on November 12 exclusively on PlayStation 5. Earlier, gamers (also with the help of Distortion2) revealed what was behind a mysterious door that was not in the original Demon’s Souls.
