Square Enix reveals PS5 version of Final Fantasy XIV and talks about the upcoming game update
The next major expansion, Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, will be released this year, but Square Enix will have two more major updates before it. In a recent broadcast, the company revealed the details of the 5.5 update and also presented a version of the game for the PlayStation 5.
Update 5.5 includes:
- New Story Missions – Fandaniel and Telophoroy plot to recreate the Last Days and ominous towers rise in every corner of the kingdom. The Scions will have to uncover the conspiracy before it’s too late;
- New raid The Tower at Paradigm’s Breach – the third chapter of the NieR: Automata- inspired raids of YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse;
- the end of the Sorrow of Werlyt quest chain;
- new challenge The Cloud Deck – players will fight with the formidable Diamond Weapon. The challenge will be available on both Normal and Extreme difficulty levels;
- new dungeon Paglth’an;
- Save the Queen Questline Update – New Zadnor Zone, Increased Resistance Rank Limit, New Resistance Weapon Upgrade Tier, and much more.
- New Unreal Challenge – The next enhanced enemy is back from A Realm Reborn. Level 80 players will battle Leviathan for unique rewards;
- renovation of handicrafts;
- restoration of Ishgard – a ceremony dedicated to the beginning of a new era will take place. Players will be able to receive rewards by participating in relevant events;
- Explorer Mode update – level 70 dungeons will be added to explorer mode;
- new musical instruments;
- various adjustments, new vehicles, and much more.As mentioned, Square Enix also brought Final Fantasy XIV to PlayStation 5. The game plays at 4K and higher frame rates, surround sound, a new set of trophies, and DualSense controller features.
Final Fantasy XIV is available on PC and PlayStation 4. The PlayStation 5 open beta will begin with the release of Patch 5.5 on April 13th. And the Endwalker expansion is slated for release in the fall.
