Steam version of Guild Wars 2 will not be released in 2020 due to the new expansion

Studio ArenaNet on its website announced the postponement of the release date of the version of its multiplayer role-playing game Guild Wars 2 for the digital distribution service Steam for an indefinite period.

Recall that in the summer ArenaNet promised to deliver Guild Wars 2 to Steam by the end of November this year, but the plans were not destined to come true: the development studio had other priorities.

Simultaneously with the Steam version, the creators of Guild Wars 2 then presented End of Dragons – the third major expansion: the studio decided to focus on it at the expense of the publication for the Valve digital store.

“Due to this, we have suspended preparations for the release of Guild Wars 2 on Steam. Our priority now is to create Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons at the level of quality that you expect and deserve, ”explained ArenaNet.

In addition, ArenaNet has said that preparations are “in full swing” for the culmination of The Icebrood Saga, the fifth season of Guild Wars 2 story content. The Icebrood Saga: Champions trailer is expected on November 5th.

As for End of Dragons, the third expansion will have to wait until 2021. There are practically no details about the add-on: in August, the developers limited themselves to a short teaser trailer.

Guild Wars 2 was released in 2012 exclusively for PC. Since then, the MMORPG has attracted over 11 million users. The basic version of the project is free, but you have to pay for the full set of functions.
