“Ignore Blizzard Today”: Diablo II Dev Censorship Remastered Amazon Skin Change

“Ignore Blizzard Today”: Diablo II Dev Censorship Remastered Amazon Skin Change

Former Diablo II developer and production manager for the first version of World of Warcraft, Mark Kern, posted several posts on his personal microblog regarding Diablo II: Resurrected. He criticized the upcoming remaster for censorship, which, in his opinion, is reflected in the changing face of the Amazon and urged the audience to ignore today’s Blizzard.

Mark Kern’s statement reads: “Diablo II: Resurrected has been censored. And this is ridiculous. Diablo II has always been mature, harsh, dark, and, yes, even a little sexualized. This is a harsh fantasy setting. Gothic and exaggerated. To change this is to make a different game. Stop buying endless AAA remakes. Look at indie. “

“The [dress] of the Amazon was always open,” continued Mark Kern. In fact, we fought to make it [the costume] part of the heroine because there were attempts to change it even then. It’s sad to see what we fought for is being erased in a soulless corporate remaster. A deliberate, hard-won creative decision to add adult dark fantasy content [removed to] smooth out corners and make [the game] safe, but for whom? This is complete deliverance from the original intention of the creators. “

And in the last post, Mark Kern wrote: “But at the end of the day, it just leaves room for some really dark and sharp fantasy games that the creators of AAA projects will no longer do. I’m looking forward to the indies pulling this blanket over. Just ignore today’s Blizzard. Completely . “

Diablo II: Resurrected will be released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Series S, and Nintendo Switch in 2021; the exact date has yet to be announced. You can read about the impressions of the author of 3DNews, Mikhail Ponomarev, from the alpha test of the game here.
