Tablet processor market has skyrocketed thanks to pandemic

Strategy Analytics has recorded a sharp increase in the global market for processors used in tablet computers. The jump is explained by the pandemic, due to which users began to massively buy additional computing devices.

In the second quarter of this year, the revenue of suppliers of chips for tablets reached $ 556 million, which is a quarter – 26% – more compared to the result for the same period of 2019.


The largest player in the industry is Apple, with the apple empire accounting for 43% of the total revenue in the tablet processor market. Intel is in second place with a result of 18%, and Qualcomm closes the top three with 15%.

Thus, these companies control three quarters (76%) of the world market. The top five vendors also include MediaTek and Samsung LSI.

Analysts predict that the tablet processor market will continue to grow in the second half of this year. After a prolonged decline in sales, the industry returned to positive dynamics, due to self-isolation, telecommuting, and remote learning: in these conditions, users around the world required additional computer gadgets.
