Technobloggers unpack the reference GeForce RTX 3080 and share their impressions

NVIDIA does not yet allow publishing reviews of the new GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards, but today it is possible to publish materials with unboxing GeForce RTX 3080. Obviously, many tech bloggers and sites did not fail to take advantage of this opportunity.

It should be noted right away that the packaging of the GeForce RTX 3080 looks very similar to the one used for the Founders Edition 20-series GeForce RTX cards. Minimal design, no unnecessary details, and colors. However, now the card is placed in the box not vertically, but horizontally.

Of the additional bundled accessories, only a new 12-pin adapter for additional power supply, as well as a couple of instructions and a card warning that NVIDIA does not recommend using 12-pin adapters from other manufacturers.

Many people note that the live map looks much more attractive than in photographs. For example, the popular tech blogger JayzTwoCents noted in his video that the card was assembled as if it had been made by Apple and not NVIDIA. There are no unnecessary elements on the map itself. There are no stickers with product information on it. All data is contained on the I / O plate and does not spoil the appearance.

According to Jay, the color of the metal casing of the video card gives off a bronze tint, and not silver, as it might seem from early photos and the presentation of the new GeForce series.

Additionally, the blogger noted the absence of any visible screws. For the same reference GeForce RTX 20 series models, there was a whole scattering of bolts of various sizes on the case. Some attached the backplate (backplate) to the board, as well as the CO radiator backplate, others were part of the cooling system casing itself. Looking closely, Jay noted the presence of small metal plugs around the fan locations. However, he immediately stated that he would not disassemble the map in the future because he did not want to spoil such beauty.

According to him, NVIDIA even warned reviewers to carefully disassemble the video cards, since some elements of the cooling system can be damaged.

The blogger also complained about the not very good location of the new 12-pin video card power connector, as well as the size of the adapter itself.

The first is located in such a place that it is not very convenient to lay the power cable. As for the adapter, Jay complained about its short size as well as the braiding. This fact may not appeal to those who are used to using modding cables.

The Founders Edition GeForce RTX 3080 will go on sale on September 17. The manufacturer estimated it at 63,490 rubles. At the moment, everything indicates that the variants of this model made by partners of NVIDIA will be on sale at the same time.
