Telegram 7.4 released with support for transferring chats from WhatsApp and other messengers

Telegram today released an update to its mobile app, numbered 7.4. In it, the developers have added one of the most important functions, which is especially relevant recently – transferring chats from other messengers.

Telegram, of course, is aware of the fact that almost 100 million people switched to their service in January 2020. The reason for this is the notorious new WhatsApp privacy policy, which Facebook will adopt in May, and it implies rather controversial rules for the processing of personal information. Against this background, Telegram decided to add a native function for exporting chats from applications such as WhatsApp, Line, and KakaoTalk. Moreover, you can export not only dialogs but also group chats.

On iOS, you just need to open a page with information about a contact in WhatsApp, go down, click on the “chat export” item and select the Telegram item. The app will automatically export all attached information.

On Android devices, inside a WhatsApp chat, you need to click on the three dots, then “More” and “Export chat”, and then select Telegram from the “Share” menu.

In addition, the developers made the ability to adjust the volume in group audio conferences, changed the structure of the music player, changed animations in the Android client, and more. You can get acquainted with the full list of innovations on the official Telegram website.
