Tesla EVs remain a coveted purchase in the US, even without federal discounts

One of the first electric car makers in the United States, Tesla, has already lost the ability to provide customers with a federal electric car discount of $ 7,500. This discount tends to melt away in the process of reaching a sales volume of 200 thousand cars. Despite this and more seductive offerings from competitors, Tesla’s electric vehicles continue to be the most sought after product in the US in their category.

According to data collected by Buy Shares, in the first half of 2020, 81.66% of electric vehicles sold in the United States were represented by Tesla. Moreover, four Tesla models are found in the top five best-selling electric vehicles in the United States during the reporting period. Certainly, the lack of discounts did not frighten motorists. In the US, Tesla electric cars continue to be the most coveted purchase.

In terms of numbers, 87,398 electric vehicles were sold in the US during the first six months of 2020, of which 71,375 were Tesla’s sales. The Tesla Model 3 remains the most popular: in six months of collecting statistics, this electric car sold 38,314 units. It is important to note that Tesla does not disclose its sales by market, and registration data is not available everywhere in the US, so some Tesla sales figures are approximate.

However, the time of the real test of Tesla electric vehicles for market strength has not yet come. Everything may change next year when the largest manufacturers will roll out the Mustang Mach-E, Audi e-Tron Q4, and others to the US electric vehicle market. Tesla will have to react to these events. It will be interesting to know how and by what means.
