The list includes 137 cars
Following an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Tesla is recalling 137 Model Y vehicles for fear that their steering wheels could fall off. The automaker says the problem is with the mounting, and this is not the first time such problems have been reported.
Tesla suspects that of the 137 Tesla Model Y included in this recall, about 10% have a mounting problem. According to the official NHTSA report, a Tesla support technician discovered the problem.
Tesla recalls batch of Model Y due to falling steering wheels
This happened on May 4 this year, and Tesla says that by May 22, it decided to apply for a voluntary recall. Tesla also confirmed that the company is aware of at least four warranty claims in this regard. At the same time, the company says it is not aware of any accidents, injuries or deaths related to this issue.
Back in May 2020, a Brit lost a Model 3 wheel just a month after delivering the car. In February of this year, Twitter user @preneh24 Prerak Patel revealed that the steering wheel of his new Tesla Model Y electric car fell off while he was driving with his family on the freeway.
