Rumors that Tesla will enter the Indian market have been circulating since 2016 when the head of the company Elon Musk first mentioned it. And now, the same Musk announced that Tesla’s official sales in India will start in 2021.

However, for many Indians interested in buying an advanced electric vehicle, this is enough. Indeed, unlike the head of Nikola, the head of Tesla does not throw words to the wind.
Apparently, deliveries of cars to the Indian market will be carried out from a Chinese plant – even despite the tense relations between India and China, this is quite possible. Although Tesla is already looking for a site for a second plant in Asia (presumably, it will be built in Japan), and in the event of an aggravation of the situation in the region, supplies will be organized from another Asian factory.
Interestingly, Tesla may even qualify for Indian government subsidies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi previously announced the government’s plan to provide $ 4.6 billion in subsidies to companies that will open factories in India to produce batteries for electric vehicles.
