Tesla will soon increase the number of drivers testing autopilot tenfold

Elon Musk remains confident in Tesla’s ability to offer software that meets the highest (fifth) level of vehicle autonomy by the end of the year. So far, a limited number of drivers have access to the beta version of the new software, but next month it may increase tenfold.

Like many software developers, Tesla is testing its beta FSD with the support of volunteers. More than 1,000 drivers took part in the beta testing program last month, according to Electrek. Tesla used the data collected by its cars to train its neural network and improve its auto-driving skills. This week, Elon Musk announced that after the release of beta version 8.2 of the FSD program, the number of test participants would double, and version 8.3 will already be tested by a tenfold increase in the number of drivers. He explained that the control program is becoming more mature, but caution must be exercised when testing.

Sharing his own impressions of earlier versions of the FSD, the head of Tesla admitted that the car could independently move him from home to work and back with little or no intervention from the driver. Musk did not specify when the two updates mentioned above will be released, but the available information suggests that this will happen before the end of April. Tesla plans to launch an automatic taxi service. Private owners of electric vehicles of this brand will be able to rent their cars to this service, and they will earn money while the owners are busy with something else.
