The creators of the popular Skyrim mod Enderal started their own commercial project

The German studio SureAI, which created the popular global mod Enderal: Forgotten Stories for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, announced the development of an independent project. Unlike mods, it will be distributed on a paid basis.

The developers made an announcement simultaneously with the publication of the changelog of the last patch (1.6.4.0) for Enderal: Forgotten Stories. The update fixed a number of problems, including the disappearance of the bow dropped from the inventory and the incorrect calculation of the damage done, as well as typos in the text. So far, the patch is available only in English and German – versions in other languages (the mod is also presented in Russian) will be released immediately after the translation is completed.

A full announcement of the game is planned for this year. The authors noted that now they will not have free time to continue working on modifications and updates for them. For the same reason, Enderal: Forgotten Stories will not receive support from Skyrim Special Edition. Thus, it can only be launched with the original version of the game.

The global mod Enderal: The Shards of Order appeared back in 2016 – at the same time the authors were awarded The Game Awards for the best fan project. In February 2019, it was released on Steam along with the Forgotten Stories add-on (since then, the entire modification has been subtitled this add-on). The mod adds a completely new storyline with original characters and locations and significantly changes the gameplay systems (skills, building houses, crafting, spells, etc.). It can take up to 125 hours to complete.

Enderal has received “very positive” reviews on Steam (over nine thousand responses in total). Many users admit that the modification turned out better than Skyrim itself.

Previously, the developers released several more mods for the games in the series – for example, Nehrim: At Fate’s Edge for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (it can also be found in the Valve store ).

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year, however, despite this, enthusiasts continue to create content for it. Last October, the Aetherium Interactive team announced a  massive Extended Cut mod that will bring the game closer to Dragon Age and The Witcher. Development of Skyblivion (The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on the engine of the fifth part), Beyond Skyrim (Tamriel in Skyrim), and Skywind (remake of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind based on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition) continues.

On December 15, Microsoft added  The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition to the Xbox Game Pass.
