The developers of the Switch-version of Star Wars: Republic Commando promised to fix problems with low performance
Reddit user brokowska420 contacted Aspyr Media’s support team regarding the unsatisfactory state of Star Wars: Republic Commando on Nintendo Switch and received an encouraging response.
The tactical shooter remasters LucasArts experienced performance issues on Nintendo’s hybrid console shortly after its release, thanks to consumer complaints on social media and forums.
Technical analysis of the Switch version of Star Wars: Republic Commando from the ContraNetwork portal showed that even in TV mode, the game could not cope with shootouts: in especially “hot” moments, the system produces 15-20 frames / s.
Aspyr Media, the publisher responsible for the release of Star Wars: Republic Commando on the Nintendo Switch (and PS4), has not officially commented on the situation yet. Still, in a conversation with brokowska420, they mentioned the upcoming fixes.
“Our developers are currently investigating performance and low frame rates on the Switch. We hope we can fix [these problems] shortly, ” Aspyr Media said.
An updated version of Star Wars: Republic Commando offers improved resolution, modernized controls, and support for the trophy system (PS4). There are no graphical improvements to speak of.
Star Wars: Republic Commando debuted in March 2005 on PC and Xbox and made its way to PS4 and Nintendo Switch in April 2021. In the commander of the squad of elite clone commandos, “Delta” players need to issue orders and shoot accurately.
